Jakub Trajter

Jakub Trajter, born in 1983, is a contemporary Slovak sculptor based in Bratislava whose work reflects the kind of innovation and material experimentation that Allouche Gallery continues to champion. Known for presenting artists who expand the language of contemporary art, the gallery recognizes in Trajter a practice that pushes sculpture beyond traditional form and into a space where process, chance, and transformation become central to the work.

Trajter’s early practice was rooted in precise realizations in marble, granite, bronze, and wood, with an emphasis on surface, weight, and the quiet presence of form. Over time, he moved toward reclaimed metal and industrial remnants, reworking these materials into sculptures that carry visible traces of pressure, heat, time, and physical transformation.

His work occupies a compelling space between abstraction and realism, softness and strength, control and unpredictability. Some sculptures suggest constructivist structures, while others unfold with a dramatic, almost baroque energy. Fire marks, raw textures, and the natural character of metal are not concealed, but embraced as part of the work’s history and emotional force.

In his latest body of work, Trajter has developed a hydro-explosion process in which water is forced between two sheets of stainless steel, reshaping the material from within. The result is both technically rigorous and visually poetic. Stainless steel, often associated with hardness and permanence, takes on an unexpected sense of lightness, movement, and fragility.

For Allouche Gallery, Trajter’s work speaks to a broader commitment to artists who challenge convention and bring new energy into the art market. His sculptures are not only objects of form and material, but records of force, tension, and transformation. Each piece captures a singular moment when pressure becomes shape, when chaos finds balance, and when industrial matter is transformed into something deeply contemplative.
